I heard a story growing up about the ancient Greeks. They believed that they had Poseidon to thank for the creation of Horses. The story goes, according to legend, that Poseidon became smitten with Demeter but that she was not taken with him. So she asked him to create the most beautiful animal in the world. So he stepped back, taking his time, until he had created the most majestic of all animals… the Horse.
